Job Title: Medical Records Assistant 2

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Medical Records Assistant 2 to join our team in the Department of Health Information Management.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring strict adherence to security and confidentiality guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong electronics system experience, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the maintenance of medical records, including scanning, indexing, and filing.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records, adhering to security and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to inquiries and requests from physicians, staff, and patients.
  • Collaborate with the Health Information Management team to ensure efficient and effective record-keeping practices.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve record-keeping and data management.
Requirements:
  • 1+ year of experience in Health Information Management and comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Health Information Management or related field.
  • 2+ years of related work experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in Health Information Management.
Work Schedule:

Variable days and hours, full-time position.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
