Job Summary

Elderwood at Wheatfield is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to support the nursing department in ensuring the health and well-being of residents. The successful candidate will have at least two years of relevant experience in a long-term care setting and some medical coding experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate census information daily and submit census activity information to the Business Office.
  • Retrieve monthly reports from CMS and maintain closed medical records.
  • Organize and analyze medical records of discharged residents and ensure completeness before filing.
  • Prepare information for QA & R and perform related tasks as instructed.
  • Maintain MD/NP schedule and manage role assignments for physician and nursing staff in HPN system.
Requirements
  • Minimum of HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of long-term care experience.
  • Demonstrated computer skills using databases and applications.
  • Education/Training in medical records processing leading to R.H.I.T certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Work Environment

This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. To ensure a safe work environment, the employee must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
