Your Role:


As a Senior Automation Systems Engineer, your primary focus will be on the design and construction of data acquisition and process control systems tailored for chemical processing.

These systems will encompass instrumentation, controls, plumbing, fluid power, and solids handling to facilitate innovative electrochemical and metallurgical processes for steel manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities:
Design electrical/electronic systems, including the fabrication and commissioning of automated equipment.

Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation, control systems, and electrical apparatus at a pilot scale.

Program PLCs and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Specify and procure suitable equipment and instrumentation to fulfill system design specifications.

Troubleshoot electrochemical systems and conduct root cause analysis to enhance existing systems.

Independently lead projects while collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and external agencies as necessary.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

4+ years of experience in PLC programming, including ladder logic and structured text (Siemens preferred).

Advanced proficiency with instrumentation such as voltage, amperage, temperature, pressure, level, weight, and flow.

Familiarity with high voltage and low voltage electrical design and troubleshooting.

Knowledge of industrial automation communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, RS485, etc.

Advanced programming experience in Python, Javascript, C/C++, or equivalent.

Comprehensive understanding of engineering design, concepts, principles, practices, and procedures.

Strong organizational and project management capabilities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field.

6+ years of relevant experience.

Proficiency with Siemens S7, Ignition, SolidWorks Electrical, and SQL databases.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand/sit for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Ability to operate equipment and tools such as Multimeter and Oscilloscope.

Compensation:
The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 annually, which may vary based on skills, experience, and education.
