POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is pivotal in aiding research and product innovation by conducting experiments, evaluating new products, and ensuring the functionality of laboratory apparatus. Key responsibilities encompass performing routine maintenance on equipment and validating instruments, alongside executing laboratory experiments that facilitate and expedite the feasibility, development, and validation testing of novel products. This position necessitates availability for weekend shifts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Independently conducts various types of experiments utilizing established protocols:

o Testing components of immunoassay kits through plate-based methodologies.

o Validation testing for new immunoassays.

o Processing and analyzing samples with both established and newly developed assays.

o Conducting tests to enhance product performance through complex layouts and procedures.

o Preparing and testing components for immunoassay kits on a pilot scale.


• Provides training for new team members on assay methodologies, analytical software, and equipment upkeep.


• Performs routine daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance on laboratory equipment to uphold compliance with company standards and safety protocols. Responsible for restocking supplies and proper waste disposal.


• Conducts qualification testing on laboratory equipment and addresses equipment malfunctions by executing minor repairs and coordinating major repairs.


• Adheres to company safety regulations, personal protective equipment guidelines, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and good laboratory practices.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:


• An Associate's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience.


• A minimum of two years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably with immunoassays.


• Experience with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) is mandatory.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


• Proficient understanding of laboratory terminology, proper handling of laboratory equipment, and safe working practices.


• Familiarity with MS Office applications, especially MS Excel.


• Exceptional attention to detail; highly driven and organized.


• Capable of troubleshooting and effectively communicating issues that may impact the quality, accuracy, and reliability of laboratory instruments.


• Strong oral and written communication skills, along with good interpersonal abilities.


• Competent in executing experiments according to established protocols and/or SOPs.


• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.


• Willingness to work on weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


• The individual in this role frequently needs to sit and stand for extended periods. Occasional walking and the use of hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls are required. Reaching with hands and arms is also necessary.


• Certain aspects of this position may necessitate working at heights above four (4) feet and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


• Typical biology laboratory setting with chemical and biological reagents up to BSL-2 standards.
