Business Lending Consultant

Position Summary:
The Commercial Lending Officer is responsible for executing all functions related to the origination, assessment, and finalization of commercial loans, adhering to the established lending goals, policies, and procedures. This role is pivotal in building, nurturing, and optimizing relationships with both current and prospective clients, aiming for sustainable loan and deposit growth along with increased fee income. The officer ensures compliance with credit quality standards throughout the lending process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of existing clients, enhancing relationships based on their specific needs. Collect and oversee the necessary documentation for loan applications, collaborating with Credit Administration to obtain appraisals, credit reports, background checks, and other relevant information for loan evaluation. Engage with applicants or creditors to clarify inquiries and negotiate terms.
- Drive new business development efforts, dedicating time each week for client outreach and strategic sales planning.
- Enhance both new and existing client relationships by promoting essential deposit and fee income products/services tailored to client requirements.
- Facilitate negotiations with clients, both new and existing, adhering to established standards regarding fees, repayment options, and other credit terms. Present loans for approval to the loan committee when necessary, ensuring all loan agreements are accurate and compliant with policy. Oversee timely loan closing and funding processes while maintaining organized loan documentation.
- Actively represent Prevail Bank in various industry and professional associations, community organizations, and local business groups, promoting a positive image of the institution.
- Effectively manage delinquent accounts in accordance with bank policies, negotiating revised repayment terms as required.
- Stay informed about government-backed loan programs and other conventional financing options available to clients.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, with coursework in accounting, finance, and economics, complemented by additional banking training.
- Formal training in credit analysis.
- 5-7 years of experience in Commercial Banking or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients and colleagues.
- Strong understanding of lending regulations and policies.
- Proficient problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated business development and sales capabilities.
- Professional demeanor in dealing with all internal and external stakeholders, ensuring courteous and efficient service.
- Ability to grow core branch deposits.
- Meet established sales call goals as part of annual performance targets.
Working Conditions:
Work primarily occurs within the bank, in the community, and at client locations, with minimal risk of personal injury. The role requires sustained mental and visual focus, with occasional high-pressure situations due to competing priorities and deadlines. Standard working hours apply, with the possibility of evening and weekend work to accommodate client needs. Some travel may be required for business purposes.
