We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wholesale Energy Originator to join our team at NRG. As a key member of our Business team, you will be responsible for originating, structuring, and negotiating electric commodity transactions with a focus on the CAISO/WECC wholesale power market.
Key Responsibilities- Originate and structure power transactions in CAISO/WECC to support Commercial Operations and the C&I Sales Team.
- Work closely with internal groups, including Sales, Legal, Risk, Costing, Structuring, Trading, and others, to manage all issues surrounding retail deals and facilitate transaction closure.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, including utilities, banks, trading counterparties, asset developers, power generators, and CCA's, to grow customer flow business and execute structured transactions.
- Act as a subject matter expert, well-versed in CAISO/WECC market fundamentals, and capable of explaining key market dynamics to various audiences.
- Minimum of 5 years of power marketing or power trading experience.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Advanced knowledge of the electric utility industry, electric energy markets, and market fundamentals, particularly in CAISO/WECC.
- Strong commercial skills and proven ability to identify and close large wholesale power transactions.
- Evening and weekend work may be required as business needs dictate.
- Up to 25% travel requirement to establish and maintain customer business.
- Ability to work with customers and people at all levels of the organization.
- Strong team player with ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
