Job Description:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. in Prescott, AZ. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for processing and managing various financial functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage and reconcile payroll journals, workmen's compensation audits, and tax information for associates.
  • Prepare and submit payroll information for agencies and prepare journal entries for corporate office at month-end.
  • Manage accounts payable department, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating work.
  • Print weekly accounts payable check run, maintain policies and procedures for invoice processing, travel reimbursement, and petty cash maintenance.
  • Process invoices for services, prepare journal entries for corrections or adjustments, and vouchering of invoices as needed.
  • Collect data for sales and use tax reports, interact with external and internal customers, and provide customer service.
  • Back-up to AP team in their absence, prepare and supply information for internal and external audits, and support corporate staff in 1099 report preparation.
  • Prepare and enter journals into Oracle at month-end.
  • Supervise month-end closing, prepare general journal entries, accrual schedules, and reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports, LIFO index reporting, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High integrity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Minimum of a four-year degree in Accounting or Business Management with a concentration in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years working as an accountant with payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 3 years in the utilization of ERP and payroll software.
  • Able to supervise and/or review other people's work for accuracy.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving/analysis skills.
  • Accurately completes detailed paperwork on a daily basis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Complies with company safety rules and regulations.
  • Regular attendance and willingness to work occasional weekends.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in accounting in a manufacturing field.
  • Applied experience using Oracle and/or Vantage payroll systems.

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger keys accurately when using a computer keyboard, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
