Role Summary: The Senior Accountant will be pivotal within the finance division, ensuring the precision and thoroughness of financial documentation and reporting. This role will report directly to the Controller. The ideal candidate should possess 3-5 years of relevant experience and will oversee accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, revenue recognition, inventory management, and cost of goods sold (COGS). This position demands strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of GAAP accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Revenue Recognition:
    • Examine and interpret contracts for revenue recognition implications.
    • Guarantee revenue is recognized in line with applicable accounting standards and company protocols.
    • Compile monthly revenue reports and reconciliations.
  2. Accounts Receivable:
    • Supervise the accounts receivable operations, ensuring prompt and precise billing.
    • Track and manage outstanding receivables, following up on overdue accounts.
    • Formulate and execute collection strategies to minimize outstanding receivables.
    • Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers to confirm all payments are accounted for and accurately posted.
  3. Inventory Oversight:
    • Maintain precise inventory records, including monitoring inventory levels and movements.
    • Review regular physical inventory counts conducted by warehouse managers and resolve discrepancies.
    • Oversee inventory valuations and ensure appropriate costing methods are utilized.
  4. Cost Management:
    • Accurately calculate and report Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
    • Ensure margins are reported correctly by analyzing COGS to confirm costs are recognized in the appropriate period.
    • Assist in developing and tracking cost reduction initiatives.
  5. Financial Reporting:
    • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure adherence to GAAP accounting standards.
    • Provide assistance during external audits and financial assessments.
  6. Process Enhancement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
    • Develop and document accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA designation preferred.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, particularly in revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and inventory management.
  • Strong grasp of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Familiarity with Sage Intacct or Service Titan is advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational abilities, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
