Regional Cancer Care Associates is seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. This role serves as the patients medical liaison among the practice, hospital, support services, and payors.
Key Responsibilities- Contact or meet with patients to obtain basic chart information, including diagnosis, referring physician, personal data, insurance, and medical style preferences.
- Coordinate physician referrals, schedule oncology-related medical appointments, resolve insurance billing and coding issues, and contact agencies as needed.
- Ensure accurate documentation in the medical chart and verify patient insurance eligibility and financial requirements.
- Provide educational materials to patients and families, and refer them to agencies and services such as housing, transportation, pharmaceutical needs, and counseling.
- Network within the community to maintain an agency and services resource list, and research and respond to routine inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
- At least two years of directly related experience in medical coding, billing, patient advocacy, or social services.
- Proficiency with computer systems, medical billing systems, and Microsoft Office Outlook and Word.
- Ability to verbally articulate information and questions with others, and utilize the appropriate and correct terminology.
