Job Title: Family Engagement Liaison

Join the Phoenix Union High School District 210 team as a Family Engagement Liaison, where you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and social-emotional success of our students.

Job Summary:

The Family Engagement Liaison will coordinate with school staff, Family & Community Engagement Coordinators, and the Family and Community Engagement Manager to develop and implement strategies that promote family engagement and student achievement. This role will also provide support for the District's bus and lunch program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with regional Family and Community Engagement Coordinators to plan and implement parent/guardian engagement workshops, events, and activities.
  • Provide parental support in various areas to remove barriers to learning and support family goal setting, parent advocacy skills, and social-emotional learning.
  • Connect parents/guardians with relevant staff, teachers, or programs to ensure awareness and access to information supporting student academic and social-emotional success.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from eligible students or households related to providing information, eligibility, and resolving problems.
  • Distribute, collect, and review data from student applications, intakes, and/or assessments to determine aid eligibility and make awards within state and federal policies.
  • Monitor eligible students to ensure ongoing participation eligibility and services.
  • Encode eligible students' breakfast/lunch tickets as required for the District to maintain Provision Two (2) status.
  • Maintain accurate records and implement guidelines and procedures as authorized by District Policy, state, and federal agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Community Liaison and/or Student Liaison to conduct home visits to provide support, deliver resources, and share information.
  • Prepare reports as required.
  • Perform general clerical functions and assist in maintaining student folders.
  • Support the dissemination of information to parents/guardians and assist in data entry of student handbook, weapons policy, internet authorization form, directory, dress code policy, etc. into the student information system.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Fluency in the language of the target population served preferred.
  • One year experience working with families and high school students of diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fluency in the language of the target population served preferred.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and/or District policies, rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures for awarding eligibility.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, and filing systems.
  • Skill in researching and compiling data for reports, presentations, and technical documents.
  • Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision.
  • Skill in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to operate office equipment and computer software.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Commitment to creating and sustaining a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive information.
