Key Responsibilities:
  • Directs the repair operations for water or wastewater pipelines, including tasks such as laying and sealing pipes, cutting, tapping mains, and service lines, as well as installing and calibrating meters, and clearing obstructed wastewater lines.
  • Supervises the installation, upkeep, and repair of valves, meters, gauges, pumps, and related apparatus utilized in water or wastewater collection systems.
  • Ensures the maintenance of water/wastewater facilities, underground utilities, piping, heavy machinery, and possesses knowledge of electrical motor control, mechanics, and proficiency in hand power tools, alongside experience in troubleshooting and rehabilitating both new and existing lift stations, as well as routine preventive maintenance.
  • Evaluates client facilities and conditions to identify system and facility deficiencies.
  • Develops and organizes job schedules based on customer-approved requests.
  • Coordinates the on-call maintenance schedule with Maintenance Supervisors and Managers.
  • Diagnoses issues with water and wastewater pumps, blowers, and other equipment at treatment facilities.
  • Takes charge of preparing and managing the division's budget.
  • Coordinates the location identification of water and/or wastewater lines to avert damage during construction and excavation activities.
  • Operates and trains maintenance personnel on the use of equipment such as air hammers, air compressors, pipe pushers, hand tools, pumps, torches, and drills for the maintenance of water or wastewater lines.
  • Supervises and trains on light construction machinery including backhoes, dump trucks, jet trucks, pickup trucks, jackhammers, or boring machines.
  • Assists in site excavation as necessary to facilitate the installation, maintenance, or repair of water, reclaimed water, or wastewater lines, ensuring the site is restored to its original condition upon completion of work.
  • Regularly inspects vehicles and equipment, ensuring timely completion of repairs.
  • Provides support to project managers on construction bids and proposals.
  • Possesses basic electrical knowledge.
  • Works a flexible schedule, which may encompass evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment:

This role involves overseeing maintenance crews, subcontractors, or specific work programs related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of water, wastewater, collection, and distribution systems, along with other facilities for U.S. Water Services Corporation.

Work is conducted in both office settings and field locations at various job sites. Frequent travel to different job sites or meeting venues is expected. Attendance at meetings outside of the regular schedule may be necessary. The work environment includes a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions, often in confined spaces, and may involve exposure to loud noises and hazardous fumes, as well as working near traffic or construction equipment. Employees may be required to be on call 24 hours a day.

Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift and carry moderate weights (45 pounds or more).
  • Capable of climbing, standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Experience in driving and operating equipment.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to handle chemicals, electricity, and odors.
  • Comfortable working below ground level or at heights.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, MS WORD, CMMS databases, and MS Project.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
