About the Role
Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our Administrative Staff team. As a key member of our tax department, you will play a critical role in providing daily guidance and support to our tax team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on federal and state partnership income tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws.
- Review and prepare various firm tax returns, including quarterly estimated tax payments and other tax returns.
- Maintain and adjust the tax calendar as needed, ensuring timely completion of tax-related tasks and deadlines.
- Manage and reconcile various tax accounts on the general ledger, overseeing adjustments to W-2 reporting as necessary.
- Assist the Tax Director with tax research and special projects, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
- Lead and support tax staff, providing guidance and direction as needed.
- Manage state and local tax audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws.
Requirements
- 6+ years of tax experience, preferably in both Big 4/National firm and private company tax departments.
- Partnership tax compliance experience is mandatory; law firm industry experience is a plus.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel is required.
- Self-starter with excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work well in a team atmosphere.
- Excellent PC skills.
- Tax Equalization experience and knowledge of 3E is a plus.
Education and Certifications
- BA/BS in accounting or equivalent education.
- CPA and/or Masters in Tax preferred.
