Grocery Department Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grocery Department Manager to join our team at Lowes Foods. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our grocery department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Service: Ensure that our customers receive polite, friendly service from our grocery department staff, providing a positive shopping experience that meets our high standards.
- Sales and Profitability: Achieve budgeted sales, wage percent, and profits for the grocery department, maintaining a strong focus on revenue growth and profitability.
- Inventory Management: Maintain the desired level of inventory and supplies to maximize sales and minimize excessive inventory, ensuring that our shelves are always fully stocked and our customers have access to the products they need.
- Department Operations: Operate the department according to merchandising and operational guidelines and programs, ensuring that our store is always clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to ensure that our grocery department hosts achieve satisfactory performance standards, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Stocking and Guest Service: Perform product stocking and guest service as necessary to achieve standards, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service and our shelves are always fully stocked.
- Staffing and Scheduling: Maintain department's staffing and scheduling standards, ensuring that we have the right people in the right place at the right time to meet our customer needs.
- Shrink Control: Control grocery shrink through proper implementation of the stock loss program, minimizing losses and ensuring that our profits are maximized.
- Pricing and Scanning: Ensure proper pricing and item scanning through price audits and proper scanning procedures, ensuring that our customers receive accurate and fair prices.
- Backroom Maintenance: Ensure that the backroom is properly maintained, keeping our store clean and organized.
- Inventory Preparation: Help prepare the grocery department for grocery inventory, ensuring that our store is always ready for the next inventory cycle.
- Vendor Partnerships: Work with the Store Manager, Grocery Manager, and Receiver to maintain product level and conditions associated with vendor product, building strong relationships with our suppliers.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform all other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of our store.
- Personality: Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well with others, building strong relationships with our team members and customers.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift 40 lbs. consistently and 60 lbs. occasionally, with the ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts, and operate a pallet jack for extended periods of time.
- Knowledge and Experience: 1-3 years of supermarket knowledge and experience, with a strong understanding of grocery store operations and management principles.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise people, including training and development, with a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with our team members and customers.
