Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grocery Department Manager to join our team at KJ's Market. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our grocery department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Ensure that customers receive polite, friendly service from our grocery department staff, providing a positive shopping experience that meets our high standards.
  • Sales and Profitability: Achieve budgeted sales, wage percent, and profits for the grocery department, through effective inventory management, pricing strategies, and sales promotions.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain desired levels of inventory and supplies to maximize sales and minimize excessive inventory, ensuring that our shelves are always fully stocked and our customers have access to the products they need.
  • Department Operations: Operate the department according to merchandising and operational guidelines and programs, ensuring that our store is always clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Employee Development: Provide guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to ensure that our grocery department employees achieve satisfactory performance standards, and are equipped to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Stockroom and Backroom Management: Ensure that the backroom is properly maintained, and that all stockroom procedures are followed, to prevent stock loss and ensure that our products are always available to our customers.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that the quality of product for sale meets our high standards, and that all products are properly priced and scanned.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with our Store Manager and Receiver to maintain product levels and conditions associated with vendor product, and to ensure that our store is always running smoothly.
Requirements
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with a strong focus on customer service and sales growth.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Inventory Management Skills: Strong inventory management skills, with the ability to analyze sales data and make informed decisions about inventory levels and product placement.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 40 lbs. consistently and 60 lbs. occasionally, with the ability to stand for long periods of time and move quickly and efficiently around the store.
