Job Overview

Position Summary: The Compliance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that all banking operations adhere to relevant federal, state, and local regulations. This position is essential for developing, implementing, and maintaining systems that effectively identify, measure, monitor, and manage compliance risks in alignment with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; specialized training in risk management and industry certifications are advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of experience in compliance is mandatory.

  • Strong proficiency in reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and instructional skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of banking regulations and compliance-related policies.
  • Moderate proficiency in computer applications.
  • Effective visual and auditory skills.
Key Responsibilities

The Compliance Officer is tasked with:

  • Conducting annual compliance risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.
  • Evaluating the risks associated with new products and services, ensuring thorough analysis before implementation.
  • Participating as a member of the Risk Management Council.
  • Collaborating with risk management personnel to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Establishing systems to monitor changes in banking laws and regulatory guidelines.
  • Overseeing compliance testing and informing senior management of compliance risks.
  • Identifying operational compliance risks and determining appropriate risk management strategies.
  • Assisting with compliance initiatives related to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Supporting the Risk Management Department in achieving its annual goals and budgetary parameters.
  • Coordinating the distribution and review of the Code of Conduct and Ethics Certification Statement.
  • Updating the bank's compliance policies and ensuring Board approval annually.
  • Monitoring departmental performance against established standards.
  • Providing training and resources to staff regarding compliance standards.
  • Implementing a periodic review program to assess compliance performance.
  • Coordinating compliance examinations with regulatory bodies.
  • Developing and managing a comprehensive compliance training program.
  • Investigating consumer complaints and compliance violations, recommending corrective actions.
  • Preparing reports for senior management and the Board of Directors on compliance matters.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.

  • Frequent communication with team members.
  • Regular use of hands and wrists for various tasks.
  • Capability to assess the quality and accuracy of work.
