Position Overview
We are currently in search of a skilled Controls Engineer to become part of our Building Automation Division in the Pacific Northwest. This role entails the effective installation and management of building automation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the checkout, start-up, and testing of BMS DDC controllers across various mechanical systems.
- Operate within data centers and other critical operational environments.
- Design, test, and implement BMS control programs that adhere to complex operational sequences.
- Initiate and configure graphical user interfaces, including BMS servers and control panel touchscreen displays.
- Provide regular updates and status reports to the Project Lead and Project Manager.
- Engage professionally with clients and other contractors.
- Document project progress and assist in the creation of accurate close-out documentation.
- Develop and follow detailed Method of Procedure (MOP) and Change Management (CM) protocols.
- Conduct BMS commissioning, including Pre-functional, Functional, and Integrated Systems Testing, both independently and in collaboration with third-party commissioning agents.
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of existing BMS systems in active data center settings.
- Support multiple ongoing projects in the Pacific Northwest region.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Electrical Engineering (EE) preferred, or an Associate's degree/apprenticeship with equivalent experience or 5+ years in the automation/controls sector.
- Familiarity with BACnet and/or Modbus protocols and integration with third-party systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, with exceptional troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
- Experience with AutoDesk AutoCAD, MS Visio, and/or Bluebeam Revu is a plus.
- Willingness to travel locally within the Pacific Northwest, with occasional overnight stays.
- Experience with one or more of the following BAS systems: Schneider Electric, Siemens, JCI, ALC, Trane, Delta Controls, Distech, Honeywell, or others.
- Tridium Niagara experience is preferred.
