Quality Assurance Specialist I (Nuclear/Laboratory)

Overview

This role is integral to supporting Planned Systems International. The organization is involved in managing and maintaining laboratory operations for government projects. The team comprises professionals from various engineering and technology backgrounds.

The primary responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and executing Quality Assurance Program audits, assessments, and surveillances to support corrective action initiatives. You will conduct thorough inspections and investigations to identify areas for improvement and develop or update quality plans, procedures, and audit checklists. Assisting team members in interpreting and implementing relevant requirements is also a key part of this role.


Key Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, you will provide quality assurance and control engineering services in support of laboratory activities.

Your assignments will be diverse, requiring creativity and innovative thinking.

You will apply advanced Quality Engineering principles, methodologies, and research techniques to establish and maintain quality assurance policies and procedures.

A solid understanding of Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) is essential, as you will review and approve safety documentation.

Engagement with supervisors on unique matters is expected, and you may lead comprehensive system audits as directed by senior quality assurance engineers or program management.

Your role will involve drafting quality plans, procedures, and audit checklists while verifying quality standards and testing protocols to ensure efficient and economical quality attainment.

Providing quality assurance support to ensure compliance with customer and organizational quality standards is crucial. You will oversee the implementation of sampling plans and quality instructions to assess product and process quality levels.

Documentation of evaluations, testing, and corrective actions will be part of your responsibilities.

You will offer recommendations regarding defective materials and maintain an ongoing awareness of quality issues. Additionally, you will compile training materials and conduct sessions on quality-related activities.

Quality assurance inspections will be a regular part of your duties, and you may specialize in specific areas such as design, incoming materials, process control, supplier evaluation, reliability, or software quality.

Providing technical guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and inspectors may also be part of your role.


Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Science, or a related field, along with 7 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to peers and management.

Certifications such as Qualified QA Engineer, Certified Level II Inspector, and Certified NQA-1 Lead Assessor/Auditor are preferred.

Due to government contract requirements, US citizenship is mandatory.
