Role Summary
The Senior Research Associate will operate autonomously under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI) and is expected to engage in pioneering research within the domains of molecular and clinical genetics, stem cell research, and hepatobiliary oncology. This role will involve collaboration on various projects and will include the mentorship and oversight of postdoctoral researchers, students, and technical staff. Responsibilities will encompass the independent execution of research initiatives, experimental design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of findings.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Senior Research Associate include, but are not limited to:
- Independently conceptualizing, planning, and executing advanced experimental protocols, including the development of new methodologies, thorough data analysis, and documentation of findings.
- Engaging in project management and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
- Exploring novel research techniques and supervising team members to enhance research productivity; contributing to the training of fellows, residents, and students as necessary.
- Handling Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) materials and conducting research involving various biological specimens.
- Performing additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
A Master's degree in a relevant field such as chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline, along with two years of research experience, particularly in clinical laboratory settings. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of research or clinical experience is acceptable.
Preferred:
Experience with a diverse range of molecular biology techniques, proficiency in analytical methods for nucleic acid and protein characterization, and familiarity with gene editing technologies.
Skills and Competencies
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively are essential.
Work Environment
This position requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in all interactions. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, with potential for additional hours as needed.
