Position Overview

Advanced Thin Films is in search of a Manufacturing Engineer who is enthusiastic about problem-solving and teamwork. In this position, the manufacturing engineer will enhance production by applying technical expertise to refine manufacturing processes, ensuring optimal efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality. The role involves identifying improvement opportunities and prioritizing them to facilitate growth and scalability within the value stream.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing
  • Integrate advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance key performance metrics
  • Conduct root cause analyses and develop effective solutions
  • Create new product Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routing in the ERP system
  • Manage project timelines effectively
  • Develop and implement methodologies for improved workflows and testing capabilities
  • Document all procedures for newly developed processes and ongoing projects
  • Establish metrics to monitor process capability and improvements
  • Design or recommend the creation of drawings for necessary fixtures and jigs
  • Translate customer specifications into actionable procedures for the department
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance productivity and quality
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • Utilize data analysis techniques to prioritize solutions
  • Communicate changes effectively across all organizational levels
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Systems thinker with a strategic and lean mindset
  • Basic programming skills (Python/MATLAB, C++/C#)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting job-related instructions and documents, including blueprints
  • Skilled in collecting, compiling, and interpreting basic mathematical calculations and statistical data
  • Ability to set personal deadlines and manage project schedules
  • Effective documentation skills
  • Detail-oriented approach to work
  • Capable of identifying, researching, and resolving issues
  • Ability to work under time and production constraints
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Familiarity with optical test equipment
  • Working knowledge of various database or process software
  • Ability to work effectively without upper management direction
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills
  • Experience working with chemicals
  • Ability to train employees in manufacturing and lean principles
  • Hands-on approach to learning and teaching
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of four years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with familiarity in statistical process control or similar methodologies
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $74,000 to $111,000, based on experience. This role may also be eligible for a performance-based bonus plan.
