Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets all firmware, diagnostic, and system-level requirements.
  • Participate in architecture definition, design reviews, and requirements generation of SSD products.
  • Perform basic signal and power integrity measurements.
  • Document and communicate results with cross-functional counterparts.
  • Simulate and analyze design proposals, review results, and provide recommendations on optimal design practices to other design engineers.
  • Design hardware for large-scale manufacture, including Design for Excellence (DFx) and low-cost considerations.
  • Hardware design, worst-case analysis, simulations, capture schematic, de-rating, and assume complete ownership of the SSD hardware throughout the product lifecycle.
  • PCB back-end process: defining stack-up and via technologies, part placement, setting design constraints, signal integrity, and power integrity analysis.
  • Work proactively with cross-functional team members during design, verification, and on Return Merchandise Authorization (RMAs).

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering required; MS in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-motivated with a desire to take on challenges.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of transmission line fundamentals and the difference between time-domain and frequency-domain analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of circuit designs and semiconductor design.
  • Good PCB design experience with high-speed signal routing guidelines and reviews, power copper routing and reviews, and design for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection.
  • Design for signal integrity, including SerDes, power, and interconnect.
  • Practical experience with design tools, such as Cadence Sigrity, Allegro Power-Aware SI, and Mentor Graphics HyperLynx.
  • Practical lab signal integrity analysis experience using equipment, such as Teledyne Lecroy SDA820Zi-B Oscilloscope and Agilent MSO-X 92004A Oscilloscope.

Compensation
