We are seeking an individual with the following qualifications and experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in economics, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the Gas and Power sectors, with a minimum of 3 years in a commercial or front-office capacity
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the North American energy landscape, particularly in physical natural gas and derivative instruments
  • Previous involvement in natural gas and liquids operations, as well as risk management
  • Strong analytical and organizational capabilities
  • Proven commercial insight and experience in customer engagement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities
Key Responsibilities

As a Gas Trading Originator, your role will encompass:
  • Sourcing supplies of natural gas and NGLs to enhance TGPNA's transportation, storage, and consumer portfolio
  • Identifying and establishing new customer relationships and downstream demand to bolster TGPNA's marketing and offtake strategies
  • Gaining in-depth knowledge of the natural gas and LNG trading portfolio, collaborating closely with TGPNA traders to aid in transaction structuring that aligns with trading and risk management objectives
  • Responsibilities in Structuring and Portfolio Development:
  • Cultivating and managing supplier and customer relationships (including traders, marketers, and midstream partners)
  • Overseeing the onboarding process for new trading counterparts
  • Suggesting and advocating for innovative risk management strategies or product structures to enhance the wholesale portfolio
  • Providing comprehensive support for deal execution and oversight
  • Staying informed on US gas and LNG market fundamentals and trends
  • Managing the commercial interactions with TotalEnergies' affiliates:
  • Facilitating commercial coordination among affiliates and contributing to the analysis of existing or prospective assets to support strategic objectives
  • Recommending risk management approaches and structuring market access solutions to maximize value for the organization
  • Assisting with cost assessments, contract negotiations, and project evaluations
  • Leading collaboration with other front office teams and internal support functions, particularly regarding the integration of new products or markets across various commodities
  • Representing TotalEnergies at industry conferences, client events, and other market gatherings
  • Supporting M&A teams in assessing investment prospects and structuring commercial supply and offtake agreements for natural gas and LNG markets in the US
Scope of Work
  • Support TGPNA's trading strategy by negotiating and executing diverse commodity transactions for natural gas and related products.
  • Expand the strategic customer portfolio to enhance access to physical and financial flows that support the Company's trading operations and market reach in the US.
  • Advocate for various risk management solutions and customized product offerings for both internal and external clients, leveraging TGPNA's trading capabilities.
  • Deliver essential end-to-end deal management to streamline contract development and enhance execution efficiency.
  • Manage the commercial interface between TGPNA and TotalEnergies' US affiliates, ensuring effective communication and coordination among all stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and assist in the development of new business opportunities, collaborating with TotalEnergies' corporate and M&A teams to promote strategies for expanding the TGPNA portfolio.

As a Trading Originator for Gas, you will leverage a profound understanding of TGPNA's trading activities and affiliate operations to effectively support origination and marketing initiatives. The position is highly client-facing, necessitating excellent communication and interpersonal skills for successful negotiations, while also requiring a high degree of independence and initiative.

Objectives
  • Propose and execute lucrative commercial transactions and midstream solutions to optimize the asset portfolio and generate measurable value.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Compliance Manual, and all Company policies and procedures.
  • Execute transactions within the framework of TGPNA's limits and trading policies.
  • Foster a collaborative atmosphere with other front office teams and cross-functional departments.
  • Support TotalEnergies Affiliates in maintaining strong relationships and facilitating further commercial opportunities.
