Key Responsibilities

As a Gas Originator, your responsibilities will include:
  • Sourcing supplies of natural gas and NGLs to enhance TGPNA's transportation, storage, and downstream consumer portfolio
  • Identifying and developing new customer relationships and downstream demand to support TGPNA's marketing and offtake initiatives
  • Gaining in-depth knowledge of the natural gas and LNG trading portfolio, collaborating closely with TGPNA traders to assist in structuring transactions that align with trading and risk strategies
  • Leading the development and management of customer relationships across various stakeholders
  • Overseeing the onboarding and establishment of new trading counterparts
  • Proposing innovative risk management strategies and product structures to optimize the wholesale portfolio
  • Providing comprehensive support for deal execution and management
  • Staying informed on US gas and LNG fundamentals and market dynamics
  • Managing the commercial interactions with TotalEnergies' affiliates
  • Facilitating coordination between affiliates and assisting in fundamental and financial analyses of current or prospective assets to support corporate strategies
  • Suggesting risk management strategies and structuring market access solutions to maximize value for the organization
  • Assisting with cost evaluations, contract negotiations, and project assessments
  • Collaborating with other front office teams and internal support functions to integrate new products or markets
  • Representing TotalEnergies at industry conferences and client events
  • Supporting M&A teams in assessing investment opportunities and structuring commercial contracts for natural gas and LNG markets in the US
Performance Metrics

  • Support TGPNA's trading strategy by negotiating and executing various commodity transactions for natural gas and related products.
  • Develop a strategic customer portfolio to enhance access to physical and financial flows that support the Company's trading activities in the US.
  • Propose and promote diverse risk management solutions and tailored product offerings for both internal and external clients, leveraging TGPNA's trading capabilities.
  • Provide critical end-to-end deal management to streamline contract development and enhance execution efficiency.
  • Manage the commercial interface between TGPNA and TotalEnergies' US affiliates, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Evaluate and support the development of new business opportunities, collaborating with TotalEnergies' corporate and M&A teams to drive portfolio growth.

The Gas Trading Originator must leverage a profound understanding of TGPNA's trading activities and affiliate operations to effectively support origination and marketing efforts. This position is highly client-facing, necessitating excellent communication and interpersonal skills for successful negotiations, while also requiring a high degree of independence and initiative.
