Position Overview

The Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for delivering high-quality healthcare services to pediatric patients across various clinical environments. This role encompasses the assessment and management of children in settings such as outpatient clinics, hospitals, and community health facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborative Care: Work alongside medical directors, administrative teams, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Clinical Assessment: Utilize independent judgment to conduct thorough assessments, diagnoses, and initiate appropriate medical interventions based on training and credentials.
  • Patient Management: Document comprehensive health histories and physical examinations, ensuring timely initiation of emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Diagnostic Procedures: Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies and imaging, in collaboration with fellow healthcare providers.
  • Care Coordination: Facilitate referrals and consultations with specialists to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Patient Education: Provide valuable information and support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and disease processes, fostering effective communication with the healthcare team.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in on-call duties and adhere to established policies and procedures to maintain high standards of care.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in pediatric care.
  • Palliative Care: Deliver compassionate palliative care for children with complex health needs, ensuring continuity and coordination of care across various settings.
  • Research Participation: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and research projects aimed at enhancing pediatric palliative care services.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess a master's degree from an accredited nursing or physician assistant program and hold a valid license as an Advanced Practice Provider in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Relevant experience in pediatric care is preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.

Physical Requirements

This position may involve prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching, along with the ability to lift and move patients as necessary. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
