Position Overview:
The University of Virginia's Orthopedic Surgery department is on the lookout for a qualified Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to take charge of our innovative Ortho Express clinic.
Role Responsibilities:
The selected APP will deliver immediate outpatient orthopedic care to both adult and pediatric patients (ages 5 and up) in a walk-in clinic environment. This role offers significant independence while ensuring robust support from orthopedic specialists, fellows, and fellow APPs.
Key Duties Include:
- Providing comprehensive treatment for a variety of orthopedic conditions in diverse patient demographics.
- Demonstrating flexibility to manage patient care in a fast-paced clinic setting.
- Conducting thorough histories and physical examinations, ordering necessary tests, and formulating detailed treatment plans.
- Administering basic orthopedic procedures such as laceration repairs, local anesthetic blocks, and fracture reductions.
- Utilizing fluoroscopy and interpreting orthopedic imaging effectively.
- Ensuring timely follow-up care for orthopedic patients.
- Maintaining exceptional communication with patients and interdisciplinary team members.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant).
- A minimum of one to two years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Valid licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider in Virginia, including necessary certifications.
Professional Development:
The role emphasizes continuous learning and engagement in quality improvement initiatives. The APP will also mentor and educate other healthcare professionals and contribute to community outreach.
