About Us:
Pediatric Associates of Charlottesville is seeking a Triage Nurse (LPN or RN) who embodies a strong work ethic to join our compassionate and skilled team.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Triage Nurse, you will work alongside a committed clinical team focused on providing outstanding comprehensive care to families.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nursing program.
  • Licensure: Must possess a valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Proficiency in computer skills is highly desirable.

General Summary:
This role entails performing triage and nursing care that is essential for assessing, promoting, maintaining, and restoring the health and wellness of pediatric patients.

Working Conditions:
Requires a full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. The position involves sitting for extended periods and occasionally lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. The work environment is fast-paced, family-oriented, and child-friendly, with some exposure to office chemicals and materials.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct phone triage and document each call.
  • Welcome patients and visitors courteously and direct them to the appropriate areas.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to secure necessary authorizations for procedures.
  • Gather a brief summary of patient complaints and document them in the EMR.
  • Provide patient education as needed, such as on breathing treatments and newborn care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock exam rooms appropriately.
  • Prepare sterile instruments for use in the treatment room.
  • Perform vital sign assessments on patients.
  • Organize work areas and ensure patient history is complete.
  • Assist physicians with necessary procedures.
  • Make patient follow-up calls as required.
  • Conduct audiogram and stereopsis screenings as necessary.
  • Complete documentation for patients, including school and medication forms.
  • Contact hospitals for lab and x-ray results as needed.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment for patients and staff.
  • Participate in meetings to stay updated on protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with nursing and front office staff to optimize patient care.
  • Assist in emergency situations as required.
  • Monitor expiration dates on sample medications and formulas.
  • Administer and document immunizations and medications in the EMR.
  • Adhere to OSHA and safety requirements for rooms and documentation.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities:
Must be adaptable and capable of cross-training in various roles as needed.
