Position Overview

The Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider plays a crucial role in delivering specialized healthcare services to children in various clinical environments. This includes, but is not limited to, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and community health settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with the medical director, administrative staff, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient management throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Clinical Assessment: Utilize independent judgment to assess, diagnose, and initiate appropriate medical interventions based on your training and credentials.
  • Patient Evaluation: Conduct thorough health histories and physical examinations, ensuring timely responses to emergencies as required.
  • Diagnostic Interpretation: Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory studies and imaging, in collaboration with healthcare colleagues.
  • Care Coordination: Manage patient care in alignment with established policies and procedures, facilitating effective communication among healthcare team members.
  • Education and Support: Provide essential information and support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and health conditions.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to research efforts aimed at enhancing pediatric care services.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and training to maintain competency and stay current with best practices in pediatric healthcare.
Qualifications

Applicants must possess a master's degree from an accredited nursing or physician assistant program and hold or be eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Relevant certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are also required.

Physical Requirements

This role involves prolonged periods of standing, frequent bending, and the ability to lift and move patients as necessary. Candidates should be prepared for potential exposure to various clinical environments.
