Overview:

The Junior Cybersecurity Systems Officer will engage in activities related to the establishment, upkeep, and enhancement of the network accreditation status for the secure Digital Integration Laboratory (DIL), adhering to the current Department of Defense (DoD) Risk Management Framework (RMF) security protocols and regulatory standards. This role is accountable for securing and sustaining the network's Authority to Operate (ATO) for the DIL by successfully completing the triannual re-accreditation process under RMF directives. The selected candidate will assist in monitoring, detecting, analyzing, and responding to incidents as part of the designated DIL management team. The Junior Cybersecurity Systems Officer will also develop, implement, oversee, and maintain cybersecurity measures for the DIL, a Closed Restricted Network (CRN), and effectively communicate these efforts to leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, testing, operation, and deployment of secure operating systems, networks, and database solutions.
  • Support risk assessments and provide recommendations for enhancements in security processes.
  • Contribute to various cybersecurity matters, including system architectures, firewalls, data traffic management, and network access controls.
  • Participate in evaluations of the system's security posture.
  • Engage in security testing to confirm the cybersecurity integrity of the system.
  • Be involved in integrating architectural features into existing systems.
  • Assist in resolving integration and testing challenges.
  • Support encryption, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments of diverse security technologies and IT security research.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance; U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
  • Current Security + CE certification (or equivalent baseline IAM 1 certification as per DoD requirements).
  • Experience in cybersecurity, IT, Risk Management Framework, or related fields.
  • Strong operational excellence and mission-oriented mindset - skilled problem solver, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.
  • Ability to articulate and communicate technical methodologies and findings clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Experience in security monitoring and incident response services.
  • Familiarity with security audit log analysis.
