Job Summary

The Billing Supervisor leads a team within the Finance Operations department that provides elite service to the firm's U.S. partners through support of their invoicing cycle, which issues over $1 billion in client invoices annually.

We are seeking a brilliant "A" player to join our Financial Operations group in this critical and visible role requiring a combination of leadership, talent management, customer service, and driving process excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Manages a team of Analysts by assigning work responsibilities, ensuring work quality and timeliness, resolving problems, training, mentoring, and assessing work performance.
  • Priority Management: Directs daily, monthly, and other team priorities, ensuring timely completion and communication to appropriate parties.
  • Workflow Management: Ensures smooth workflow and equitable assignment distribution while managing changing workloads, staff attrition, and other operational factors.
  • Billing Issues: Resolves billing issues while ensuring compliance with firm deadlines and policies.
  • Process Improvement: Assesses team practices and processes; recommends and implements enhancements to same.
  • Support and Development: Serves as an empowering support resource for Billing Analysts by fortifying their comprehension of billing intricacies.
  • Partner Communication: Works directly with partners by providing timely and candid communication to facilitate problem resolution.
  • Strategic Initiatives: In collaboration with Regional Billing Manager, drives and leads strategic team initiatives.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Liaises with and supports other Business Services Departments (Risk, Pricing, eBilling, etc.).
  • eBilling Processes: Understands eBilling processes; liaises with eBilling team to ensure timely billing and problem resolution.
  • Monthly Billing Activities: Ensures full comprehension of and manages key monthly billing activities.
  • Culture Promotion: Promotes a positive, energetic culture featuring teamwork, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Additional Tasks: Leads team projects and performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred - an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of related professional services experience required, 1-3 years of prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Law Firm Experience: Prior law firm experience is preferred.
  • Legal Billing Software: Well-developed legal billing software expertise required, Aderant preferred.
