Position Summary

The Sleep Lab Manager is responsible for the overall supervision of clinical operations and staff within the Sleep Center. This role encompasses performing all responsibilities of a Registered Polysomnographer/Sleep Technologist and clerical office personnel as necessary.


Key Responsibilities
  • Administers diagnostic procedures using established protocols; operates polysomnographic equipment to acquire diagnostic recordings while manually controlling the equipment to capture the required waveforms from the studied area.
  • Prepares and scores sleep studies and reports for medical professionals; monitors the quality of tests conducted while ensuring effective resource management.
  • Completes quality reports as required; reviews clinical data from medical records and patient interviews to inform testing modalities.
  • Maintains proficiency and stays updated in the neurodiagnostic field by acquiring continuing education units (CEUs) as applicable.
  • Oversees daily operations of the sleep center; develops staffing schedules and ensures that staffing ratios meet patient requirements.
  • Participates in candidate interviews and selection, conducts employee performance evaluations, and manages disciplinary actions; trains and mentors both new and existing staff members.
  • Maintains sleep center databases and the laboratory policy and procedure manual; assists with various sleep center projects.

Qualifications

Education: Vocational/Technical Degree in one of the following fields: Sleep, Respiratory Therapy, EEG, or another clinical healthcare discipline.

Licensure/Certification: RPSGT, RST, RRT/CRT with SDS or CPSGT; and BLS Certification.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct patient care in an accredited Sleep Center.

Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Strong social skills, effective oral and written communication abilities, and computer proficiency are essential. Must demonstrate the capability to work independently and solve problems with minimal supervision.

Prior supervisory experience and/or medical office management experience is preferred.
