Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Slide Filing Specialist, under the supervision of the Accessioning Supervisor, is tasked with providing essential support for the internal slide filing system of the organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring the systematic maintenance and organization of all anatomical and cytological slides. The Slide Filing Specialist will also engage in routine manual and physical tasks related to the upkeep of inventory (slides and blocks) within a pathology laboratory setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Conduct daily collection of incoming slides from the accessioning department.
  • Retrieve slides from the designated hospital departments.
  • Manually organize and file all slides and blocks at the laboratory.
  • Oversee the slide filing cabinets and alert the Supervisor when storage capacity is nearing its limit.
  • Assist in the selection of slides for offsite relocation to optimize on-site storage.
  • Communicate effectively with Pathologists to assist in locating and retrieving cases for examination.
  • Foster and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues encountered during the course of duties.
  • Comply with the Corporate Compliance Program and all related policies, including those pertaining to Privacy and Security.
  • Follow all safety protocols diligently.
  • Execute all responsibilities in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory standards to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and sensitive company data.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with various departments within PathGroup and its subsidiaries.
  • This job description does not limit management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities as necessary.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Educational Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
Experience Requirements:
  • Preferred experience of at least 6 months in a filing role.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous.
  • Reliable transportation is essential.
  • Capability to lift up to 20 pounds throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
