Position Summary: The Coordinator for the Community Youth Coalition (CYC) is an enthusiastic and driven professional with a strong commitment to youth empowerment. This role involves orchestrating meetings, collaborating with various organizations to enhance community connections, and guiding youth coalition members through hands-on learning experiences. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills and a passion for nurturing leadership, self-expression, and confidence among youth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee program development, including meeting agendas and facilitation of coalition gatherings.
- Collaborate with partner organizations to enhance community engagement and organize events.
- Lead field trips and experiential learning activities for coalition members (may occur on weekends).
- Manage and supervise the activities of youth coalition members.
- Build strong relationships with coalition members and community partners.
- Identify opportunities to enhance leadership skills and community organizing among members.
- Create an environment that encourages self-expression and confidence.
- Monitor attendance during events and meetings, both in-person and virtual.
- Maintain program data on Salesforce.
- Collect and report data for coalition activities.
- Contribute to the organization's newsletter.
- Assist with fundraising efforts and social media outreach.
- Prepare internal and external reports related to the program.
- Collaborate with Gateway staff on civic engagement projects.
- Work closely with the Leadership team to strengthen communities of color.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in community organizing.
- Demonstrated ability in group facilitation and youth leadership.
- Proven track record in building partnerships at the community level.
- Willingness to travel for events and meetings.
- Availability to work on weekends as necessary.
- Comfort with occasional overnight trips.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Residence in the Lewiston/Auburn area.
- Familiarity with Salesforce.
- Proficiency in multiple languages.
