At WHOOP, we're on a mission to empower our members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives. As a Senior Human Factors Researcher, you will play a critical role in helping us achieve this mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead human factors studies for regulated features, including formative and summative testing
  • Work with the Regulatory Affairs team to ensure test documentation meets necessary reporting standards for regulatory submissions
  • Coach other researchers on human factors best practices, including training additional study moderators and note-takers to support testing needs
  • Own remote studies distributed through the Digital WHOOP Labs platform
  • Support IRB submissions for remote studies when appropriate
  • Consult with stakeholders across Data Science, Product, and Marketing to identify opportunities to use Digital WHOOP Labs to answer research / business questions
  • Create user requirements and iteratively test designs for internal lab systems
  • Conduct additional product research (e.g. color/material/finish, form factor) in collaboration with UX Research as needed
  • Report progress regularly and present findings to department heads
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Master's Degree in Human Factors/a related field OR 4-6 years of experience with human factors research, cognitive systems engineering, hardware usability, design research, or safety and regulatory research
  • Strong understanding of human factors / design research elements (e.g. study design, session moderation, analysis methods)
  • Prior experience with hardware device / physical consumer product testing
  • Familiarity and comfort with navigating health authority expectations for human factors; prior experience with international usability standards and guidance valuable (e.g., ANSI/AAMI/IEC 62366-1, ANSI/AAMI HE75, FDA guidance, NMPA guidance, ISO 14971)
  • Understanding of survey methodology and remote study design best practices; prior experience running remote studies valuable
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
