Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at Beacon Hill Life Sciences in Boston. As a Research Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting our next-generation sequencing (NGS) efforts, working closely with our team to develop and implement high-throughput NGS library preparation workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Assisting Users

Provide expert guidance and support to users in submitting samples for sequencing, ensuring seamless execution of NGS workflows.

NGS Library Preparation and Sequencing

Independently conduct library preparations and sequencing experiments, meeting tight timelines and ensuring high-quality results.

Troubleshooting and Quality Control

Collaborate with requesters to troubleshoot sequencing issues, review metrics, and ensure that all sequencing data meets passing specifications.

Platform Operation and Maintenance

Operate and maintain Illumina NovaSeq, NextSeq, and MiSeq platforms, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Molecular Biology Techniques

Apply molecular biology techniques, including DNA purification, shearing, adapter ligation, PCR, NGS library purification, and quantification, to support high-throughput NGS library preparation workflows.

CRISPR Screening Support

Support high-throughput in-vitro CRISPR screening efforts, working closely with our team to develop and implement optimized workflows.

Workflow Management

Effectively manage multiple workflow queues and requests, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion of projects.

Requirements

Work collaboratively with our team, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Client Management

Provide exceptional client service, ensuring that all users receive timely and effective support.

Automation and SOPs

Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work closely with our team to implement automation solutions.

Molecular Biology Expertise

Bring a strong background in molecular biology techniques, including DNA purification, shearing, adapter ligation, PCR, and NGS library purification and quantification.

Technical Skills

Proficient in operating liquid handling platforms, preferably Hamilton, and experience with maintaining and plating immortalized and primary cell lines.

Time Management and Process Orientation

Demonstrate strong time management and process-oriented thinking skills, ensuring efficient execution of tasks and projects.
