The Role:

The Immunology team at Moderna is looking for a highly enthusiastic and talented Research Associate interested in advancing our understanding and next-generation design of mRNA therapeutics. The individual will be a member of the Platform Immunology/ Flow Cytometry Team and will be responsible for processing, acquiring, and analyzing preclinical and clinical samples utilizing cutting-edge technology. The Research Associate - Flow Cytometry will play a critical role in supporting our Infectious Disease research projects. This position involves performing flow cytometry experiments, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance our understanding of infectious diseases and develop novel therapeutic strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in flow cytometry, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for scientific discovery.

Heres What Youll Do:Flow Cytometry Experiments: Perform flow cytometry experiments to analyze cellular populations, immune responses, and other relevant parameters in infectious disease research.Sample Preparation: Prepare and process biological samples, including blood, tissues, and cultured cells, for flow cytometry analysis.Data Analysis: Analyze flow cytometry data using specialized software (e.g., FlowJo) and generate comprehensive reports to support research findings.Instrument Maintenance: Operate and maintain flow cytometry instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning optimally.Protocol Development: Assist in the development and optimization of flow cytometry protocols to enhance experimental accuracy and efficiency.Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including immunologists, microbiologists, and bioinformaticians, to design experiments and interpret results.Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental procedures, data, and observations.Compliance: Adhere to all biosafety and regulatory guidelinesHeres What Youll Bring to the Table:Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with flow cytometry in a research or clinical laboratory setting.Technical Skills: Proficiency in flow cytometry techniques, including multicolor panel design, compensation, and gating strategies. Experience with flow cytometry software (e.g., FlowJo) is essential.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and contribute to shared goals.Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in experimental work and data analysis.Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project priorities and deadlines.Preferred Qualifications: Experience in infectious disease research or immunology. Familiarity with cell sorting techniques and instrumentation. Experience with Spectral Flow Cytometry (Cytek Aurora). Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and data analysis. This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Modernas site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
