Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant I to support our TCRS North Austin clinic team. This role will involve assisting physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, promoting efficient patient flow and care, and performing various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and/or APP.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performs other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • May enter orders under a provider's direction and supervision.
  • Covers for other employees as needed.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants. Level 1 requires 0-3 years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant, while Level 2 requires a minimum of three years of experience and Level Sr requires a minimum of five years of experience. Current CPR certification is also required.
