Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support our Medical Oncology Department at US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities. This role will involve assisting physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment, promoting efficient patient flow and patient care, and performing various administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Perform other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
