Job SummaryWe are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide to assist with the administration of medications to our residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medication administration, be able to work independently, and possess excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities- Accurately prepare and document oral and topical medications for resident use.
- Ensure all medications are properly labeled and administered.
- Measure, record, and report vital signs of residents.
- Observe and verify medication ingestion or application as directed.
- Document any instances where prescribed medication is not taken, including reason(s) for refusal.
- Follow facility procedure for recording medication orders in resident clinical records.
- Be familiar with common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms relative to medication administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- At least one year of certified medication aide experience in long-term care.
- Must be a licensed Certified Medication Aide with a state-approved training program and any necessary examination(s).
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of residents served.
- Must be a supportive team member and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public.
- Must meet all state health requirements.
- Must clear the criminal background check, be in good standing with the Texas Misconduct Registry, and not appear on the Office of Inspector General's (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
- Must maintain a current Certified Med-Aide License.
