Branch Manager Job Description

At ASCENDO, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Branch Manager to lead our banking operations and drive business growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee branch performance, enhance customer experience, and develop and mentor team members.
  • Identify new business opportunities and build strategic partnerships that align with our company's goals and values.
  • Manage finances, ensure compliance, and build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

  • Build and maintain client relationships, identify business opportunities, and promote the bank's products and services to improve branch profitability.
  • Help maintain cost efficiency to achieve branch objectives; ensure quality customer service and compliance with sales and branding standards.
  • Responsible for managing and growing a business portfolio by partnering with commercial relationship officers, retail cluster managers, loan officers, etc.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding the features and benefits of all products and services to effectively address client needs and resolve inquiries or complaints efficiently.
  • Actively seek and participate in community activities that reflect positively on the bank and achieve CRA/CA objectives.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to ensure objectives are clearly communicated; provide guidance and leadership for staff to meet these goals.
  • Coordinate weekly staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage. Assist in the selection of new staff as appropriate; identify training needs and opportunities; develop and implement a plan to address those needs.
  • Oversee reports related to branch operations. Verify customer identity according to established guidelines and strictly adhere to all other compliance procedures.
  • Supervise the office opening/closing procedures and ensure dual control when accessing the vault.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of branch security and safety protocols, ensuring strict compliance with established policies and procedures to uphold operational integrity.

Auxiliary Functions:

  • Lead and delegate tasks clearly and appropriately among assigned staff.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews, provide clear feedback, and follow up with corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide coaching, recognition, motivation, and consistent skill development to staff members to meet the bank's strategy and objectives.
  • Communicate clearly among teams, ensuring all team members have the right tools and information to perform to expectations.
  • Manage personnel policies and procedures, such as time and attendance.
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies and procedures as well as federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Provide cross-functional support to other areas of the department and the bank where service or assistance is needed.
  • Perform supportive tasks related to the essential functions of the job, which may be modified or redesigned based on individual circumstances.

Requirements:

  • Education/Training: A Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field is typically required; specialized training in retail banking is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of related experience is typically required.
