About the Cleveland Clinic Nurse Residency Program

The Cleveland Clinic Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive training program designed for new graduate nurses to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Our program is tailored to meet the unique needs of each participant, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for growth and development.

Program Highlights
  • One-Year Residency Program: Our program is designed to last for one year, providing participants with a comprehensive and immersive learning experience.
  • Neuro Training: Participants will receive specialized training in neurology, preparing them to work with patients with complex medical conditions.
  • 24/7 Support: Our team of experienced coaches and mentors will be available to provide guidance and support throughout the program.
  • Weekly Check-Ins: Regular check-ins will ensure that participants are meeting their personal and professional goals, and identify areas for growth and development.
  • Personal Assessments: Participants will receive regular assessments to evaluate their progress and identify areas for improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in Residency Core Curriculum: Participants will engage in a comprehensive curriculum designed to meet their individual learning needs.
  • Provide Direct Nursing Care: Participants will work alongside experienced nurses to provide direct care to patients, developing their skills and confidence in a real-world setting.
  • Establish Priorities: Participants will learn to establish priorities for patient care activities, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.
  • Initiate Interventions: Participants will learn to initiate interventions to ensure continuity of safe and effective care for patients.
  • Seek Supervision: Participants will learn to seek supervision and guidance when needed, ensuring that they are working safely and effectively.
  • Comply with Hospital Policies: Participants will learn to comply with established hospital policies and procedures.
  • Use Communication Strategies: Participants will learn to use effective communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.
  • Document Patient Care: Participants will learn to document patient care in accordance with established guidelines.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an Accredited School of Professional Nursing: Participants must have graduated from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • BSN Preferred: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Current State Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN): Participants must have current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA): Participants must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA): Participants who will be working in the Emergency Department must have Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Physical Requirements
  • Requires Full Range of Body Motion: Participants must be able to handle and lift patients, and perform other physical tasks as needed.
  • Requires Standing and Walking for Extended Periods: Participants must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Requires Corrected Vision and Hearing: Participants must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires Working Under Stressful Conditions: Participants must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Exposure to Communicable Diseases and/or Body Fluids: Participants may be exposed to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
