Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our team at Oaks Senior Living. As a key member of our care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to our residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resident Services
    • Provide hands-on supervision of caregiver staff during their shift, ensuring quality care and meeting the needs of residents.
    • Adhere to each resident's individualized care plan and notify the Wellness Director and/or Executive Director of any changes in resident condition.
    • Respond promptly to resident calls and requests for assistance.
    • Assist with serving meals and supervise caregiver staff in the dining room, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
    • Control the spread of infection by following standard precautions and disposing of infectious waste according to residence policy.
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with residents and their families.
    • Respond to resident emergencies and provide emergency care as needed.
    • Assist in developing and maintaining a schedule for caregiver staff that meets the needs of residents and ensures proper staffing.
    • Respond to on-the-job injuries and maintain a safe work environment.
    • Obtain continuing education and maintain certification as a Certified Medication Aide.
    • Lead by example, encourage teamwork, and promote the Oaks Senior Living philosophy.
  • Medication Administration
    • Follow the six 'rights' of medication assistance, ensuring accurate and safe medication administration.
    • Administer medications to residents according to their Medication Observation Record (MOR) and protect resident privacy.
    • Document clearly and accurately on the Medication Observation Record (MOR) after medication administration.
    • Respect residents' rights to refuse medication/treatment and protect their safety.
    • Observe residents for adverse reactions to medication and report them to the Wellness Director and/or Executive Director immediately.
  • Communications
    • Attend regular staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
    • Effectively communicate residents' needs with caregiver staff at change of shift and with the Wellness Director and/or Executive Director.
    • Ensure required paperwork for providing resident care is completed and up-to-date.
    • Communicate with the pharmacy regarding resident medication and information as needed.
Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with residents in a Senior Living environment.
  • Supervisory experience in a healthcare or service industry preferred.
  • Required to have a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate and a State Certified Medication Aide Certificate.
  • Must be in good standing with the Georgia CNA/CMA Registry.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Friendly, caring disposition and a desire to work with older adults.
  • Must be 21 years of age and have a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Must have a physical exam by a licensed physician and a negative drug screen.
  • Must be able to react in an emergency situation.
Physical Job Requirements

To fulfill job requirements, the employee must be able to perform key physical tasks for extended periods of time, adhering to proper body mechanics and safety measures when supporting or transferring residents.
