FOX News Network Broadcast Production Engineer

FOX News Network is seeking a highly skilled Broadcast Production Engineer to join our team in New York. As a key member of our Production Engineering team, you will provide critical support and maintenance for our broadcast systems, ensuring seamless operation in a fast-paced, live 24/7 news environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Support and maintain broadcast infrastructure, including on-air broadcast production systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, IT groups, and broadcast production personnel to ensure smooth operation of our systems.
  • Supervise live control room production systems and subsystems, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs on infrastructure systems, including routers, intercoms, monitoring systems, and live production-related equipment.
  • Develop and implement standards and processes for operational support, including documentation and training for team members.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in broadcast production and live television engineering.
  • Strong technical skills, including familiarity with current media technologies, concepts, and emerging trends.
  • Experience with SMPTE standards for broadcast television and video production environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair broadcast equipment, including routers, switchers, audio boards, and signal processors.
  • Understanding of studio and set technologies, including video walls, cameras, VR set technologies, and lighting.
  • Experience with Linux variants, including Redhat, Centos, and Ubuntu.
  • Understanding of technical documentation standards, including AutoCAD, Visio, and Lucid Charts.
  • Basic knowledge of AWS infrastructure, S3/Glacier storage, and cloud compute services.
  • Extensive knowledge of standards like SMPTE for broadcast television and video environments.
  • Solid understanding of production control automation and Newsroom Computer System (NRCS) workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Windows workstation and server platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and replace computer hardware components and proprietary broadcast equipment.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of IT/Networking theory, topology, and best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong desire to learn and cross-train in new technologies and passion to maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, working independently and as part of a team in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of a live production environment, including overtime, holidays, and weekends.
