Job Summary:

As an Apparel Quality Control Specialist at Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and suitability of textiles. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will directly impact our organizational sales, as apparel sales account for 50% of our revenue.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Secure textiles from containers and thoroughly examine their condition to determine whether they should be hung or salvaged.
  2. Meet or exceed production and quality standards, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards.
  3. Accomplish assigned cleaning routines and assist in the training of workers and consumers in cooperation with the Workforce Development Department staff.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure compliance with CARF standards and maintain applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations in areas of responsibility.
  2. Drive performance and improve Goodwill's value to the community by setting S.M.A.R.T objectives.
  3. Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external stakeholders, working with integrity and professionalism.
  4. Take a leadership role in maximizing the social and financial return of community resources invested in Goodwill.
  5. Utilize organizational resources efficiently and effectively, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and continuous learning.
  6. Maintain safety standards in areas of responsibility and throughout the facility, ensuring accuracy of paperwork and carrying out additional duties assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • Able to stand for two hours at a time over a period spanning up to eight hours.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends, including some holidays.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach, and lift up to 40 pounds, walking or standing to a significant degree, and move large boxes, furniture, and other heavy items.
