ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE


Identifies challenges, clarifies situations, and escalates issues to the Lead Radiation Therapist, who reports to the Director of Radiation Oncology.


POSITION OVERVIEW
Administers radiation therapy to patients as directed by the Radiation Oncologist, adhering to established protocols and practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Utilizes knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients across all age groups, including infants, children, adults, and seniors.
  2. Exhibits competence, awareness, and sensitivity to the physical, emotional, and socio-psychological needs of all patients.
  3. Delivers the prescribed dosage and planned course of radiation therapy, positions patients appropriately, addresses inquiries, and clarifies procedures.
  4. Conducts daily verification procedures.
  5. Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
  6. Collaborates with physicists, dosimetrists, nursing staff, and physicians during treatment, as well as coordinates supportive care services (social work, dietary, etc.).
  7. Actively engages in and supports process improvement initiatives and team decision-making.
  8. Prepares treatment areas and equipment for patient use.
  9. Performs other assigned responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate's Degree in a relevant field.

Radiation Therapy Skills:
Proficient in core job functions.
Experience:
Completion of an internship, with a minimum of 1 year as a practicing Radiation Therapist. A valid Ohio Radiologic License is required.

CERTIFICATIONS:
ARRT, CPR

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

Radiation Therapy Skills:
Familiarity with Varian equipment/software, EPIC.
Experience:
1+ year as a practicing Radiation Therapist.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience in simulation is desirable.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Personal Protective Equipment:
Mask, non-sterile gloves, eye protection, and lab coat.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds, frequently lifting/pushing/pulling patients into position, prolonged standing/walking, and must possess the ability to see, hear, and move intermittently or utilize prosthetics to meet the requirements of this position.
