Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Surgeon to lead our Pediatric Trauma Program at VCU Health - MCV Physicians. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, advancing our research and education initiatives, and contributing to the growth and development of our department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Education: Develop and implement educational programs for undergraduate and graduate students in pediatric surgery, with a focus on pediatric trauma.
  • Research and Innovation: Establish a successful research program in pediatric surgery, with a focus on pediatric trauma, and collaborate with other disciplines to secure independent funding.
  • Clinical Leadership: Lead the Pediatric Trauma Program, overseeing day-to-day operations, patient care, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Administrative and Professional Responsibilities: Serve on departmental and university committees, participate in professional organizations, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Board certification or eligibility in general surgery and pediatric surgery.
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved fellowship in pediatric surgery.
  • Ability to work in a complex, matrixed environment with high emotional intelligence.
  • Commitment to teaching and practice in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board eligibility or certification in pediatric critical care.
  • Prior experience in pediatric trauma administration.
