Lead Accountant for Refinery Operations

Valero Energy Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Refinery Accountant to contribute to the financial operations at our refinery.
This role is responsible for managing daily accounting functions and analytical tasks, which encompass financial forecasting, capital budgeting, cost management, and expense analysis. The position also involves preparing comprehensive financial and statistical reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts financial analysis related to the refinery's budgeting, capital expenditures, and operational costs.
- Collaborates with various departments including Project Engineering, Maintenance, and Corporate Planning to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Utilizes expertise to address challenges that arise across different teams.
- Generates ad hoc analyses to support budgetary oversight for refinery and corporate stakeholders.
- Prepares financial forecasts, operational results, and variance analyses, along with Solomon survey submissions and statistical reporting.
- Assists colleagues with complex agreements, including energy sales transactions, and processes necessary accounting entries.
- Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines established by the organization.
- Must be able and willing to work on-site at the Valero Houston Refinery.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience is essential.
- A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience in the refining or chemical manufacturing sectors is advantageous.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- All candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card, which is mandatory for working at the refinery.
