Key Responsibilities:

  • Calibrate dosimetry equipment and radiation devices, ensuring precise measurements for quality assurance.
  • Conduct beam data acquisition for treatment planning and prepare data for planning systems.
  • Develop and enhance dosimetry protocols and software applications.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational radiation safety regulations.
  • Participate in the creation of performance improvement initiatives and standards of practice.
  • Assist in the acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Perform treatment planning and dosimetry calculations, providing reviews for the physics component.
  • Offer physics consultation to radiation oncology staff regarding patient care and treatment.
  • Verify the functionality of treatment planning systems routinely.
  • Collaborate with IT departments to manage software for planning systems.
  • Assist in planning and shielding calculations for new facilities.
  • Interpret regulatory changes and integrate them into departmental operations.
  • Conduct dosimetry checks following source modifications.
  • Support the selection and acquisition of sources for implant techniques.
  • Engage in clinical education and competency evaluations for medical physics and therapy staff.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience, including a CAMPEP-accredited residency.
  • Preferred candidates will have passed the Part-II and possibly Part-III ABR Exams.
  • Experience with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) programs is advantageous.
  • Desirable experience in computer system administration related to patient record applications.
  • Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or an equivalent certifying body is required.
  • Candidates not certified must be eligible for board certification and achieve this within three years of employment.
  • Must maintain relevant state licensing and registration as required for the role.
