Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the calibration of dosimetry equipment and radiation machinery to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Conduct beam data acquisition for treatment planning purposes.
  • Prepare and enhance data for treatment planning systems.
  • Develop and refine dosimetry protocols and software applications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations regarding radiation safety.
  • Participate in the formulation of performance improvement initiatives and policies.
  • Assist in the acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Perform treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and reviews.
  • Provide expert consultation to radiation oncology staff regarding patient care and treatment.
  • Verify the functionality of treatment planning systems regularly.
  • Collaborate with IT departments to manage planning system software.
  • Support the planning and shielding calculations for new facilities.
  • Interpret regulatory changes and integrate them into departmental operations.
  • Conduct dosimetry checks following any source changes.
  • Assist in selecting and acquiring sources for permanent implant techniques.
  • Engage in clinical education and training for medical physics and therapy staff.

Qualifications:

  • M.S. or PhD in Medical Physics or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience post-CAMPEP-accredited residency.
  • Certification in Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or an equivalent body is preferred.
  • Experience with High Dose Rate (HDR) and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with patient record and verification database applications is desirable.
  • Candidates must be eligible for board certification and achieve this within three years of hire.
  • Must maintain relevant state licensing and registration as required for the role.
