About the Role:
MHI Ship Repair & Services is a leading marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration, and Commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Our company is committed to delivering exceptional services and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze subcontract requisitions for accuracy, compliance with specifications, and adherence to budget and authorization for purchase.
- Prepare and execute subcontract purchase orders, issue RFPs/RFQs, and evaluate proposals, including completing a cost/price analysis.
- Review and negotiate terms and conditions, and handle post-award administration and subcontract closeout with minimal supervision.
- Maintain subcontract files in accordance with appropriate procurement procedures and government-approved purchasing system requirements.
- Monitor subcontracts to evaluate subcontractor's ability to meet schedules, cost, and technical requirements.
- Ensure subcontractors are in compliance with all company policies, procedures, and ethics requirements.
- Interface with project teams and production to discuss contractual issues, provide early identification of risks, and potential liabilities.
- Work with managers and subcontractors to assist in resolving impasses or other difficult related issues and recommend alternative courses of action as appropriate.
- Assist accounting with solving any processing problems with subcontract invoices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Responsible for seeking out and investigating qualified subcontractors and soliciting price information.
- Perform other duties as necessary and appropriate to this position.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, procurement, accounting, or related field.
- At least two years of government subcontracting experience, including knowledge of FAR/DFARS.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Good organizational skills.
- Strong analytical abilities and quantitative skills.
- Must be capable of performing detail-oriented work.
- Must possess excellent negotiation, persuasion, and problem-solving skills, requiring a high degree of initiative and sound judgment.
- Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
