Job Summary

Mine Safety and Health Administration is seeking a highly skilled Mine Safety and Health Inspector to join our team. As a Mine Safety and Health Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting safety and health inspections of mining operations, analyzing data, and providing technical advice to mine operators to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety and health inspections of mining operations, including surface and underground mines, to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety and health regulations.
  • Analyze data and reports to identify trends and patterns in safety and health incidents, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to mine operators on safety and health best practices, and assist in the development of safety and health training programs.
  • Investigate safety and health incidents, including accidents and near-misses, to identify root causes and provide recommendations for prevention.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations and to promote a culture of safety and health in the mining industry.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as mining engineering, geology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a safety and health role, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and health regulations and standards, including MSHA and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends and patterns.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with mine operators, employees, and other stakeholders.
Working Conditions

The Mine Safety and Health Inspector will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to mining operations and other locations. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including underground mines, and to withstand physically demanding conditions, including extreme temperatures and hazardous materials.
