Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Compensation is tasked with the assessment, implementation, and management of global compensation initiatives. This role involves analyzing industry trends, benchmarking positions, and crafting alternative strategies for program execution. The position reports directly to the Director of Global Compensation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director to design, develop, and manage Generac's compensation strategies. Partner with global HR teams to assess, formulate, and execute compensation programs that align with the company's growth and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of all compensation initiatives, working in close partnership with HR teams and external vendors to ensure competitive compensation structures are maintained within budgetary constraints. Collaborate with finance to conduct ongoing cost analyses.
  • Analyze market trends and provide insights to ensure compensation programs remain competitive and equitable internally. Ensure effective communication and administration of compensation initiatives to enhance the experience of HR partners, leaders, and employees.
  • Guarantee compliance with all relevant compensation laws and regulations.
  • Participate in compensation-related due diligence during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Foster a culture of compliance, precision, and efficiency within the team. Work alongside IT, Finance, and other departments to meet these goals.
  • Ensure compensation strategies are designed to attract, retain, and engage top talent.
  • Mentor and develop team members, establishing objectives that align with the overall company strategy to motivate and inspire.
  • Establish and manage processes for recognizing team and individual performance, ensuring consistent feedback and systematic improvement.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is required.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience in compensation, with at least 2 years focused on global compensation.
  • 5 years of demonstrated success in leveraging technology to enhance compensation functions and improve employee experiences.
  • 3 years of experience in a Center of Excellence (COE) model within a larger global organization, emphasizing continuous improvement and workplace efficiency while maintaining a positive employee experience.
  • Experience with Workday for managing global compensation programs, including merit, performance evaluations, bonuses, and equity initiatives.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying information to various employee levels.
  • Proven ability to present information and recommendations effectively to senior leadership.
  • Strong understanding of the economic factors influencing compensation plans, including employer and employee costs.
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to quickly grasp financial and operational dynamics.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with a successful track record of completing complex projects.
  • Self-motivated, energetic team player capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to coach, develop, and assess the effectiveness of team members.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is frequently required to communicate verbally and audibly, and to use hands for various tasks. The employee is also required to stand and walk regularly. Occasionally, the role may require bending, stooping, or reaching overhead. The employee may need to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. This position involves frequent computer-based work, necessitating periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel may be required.
